There’s no stopping us now! It was tougher this time to dig out the grass (note the tools being used). A slight change in technique from Nature Strip No 1 – grass was removed right to the curb so there is no strip to be mowed. The border will be left unplanted but covered in mulch, to allow for people stepping out of cars.
The soil and mulch delivery driver did a magnificent job of dropping his load just where we asked for it, despite the narrowness of the street.
Then it was newspaper over the old soil, adding the new soil on top, some watering and stamping down, then lastly the mulch. Thanks to all the volunteers, especially Shirley, who is now awaiting some nice wet weather so she can have her planting day.
