WaterWatch – Monitoring the quality of local wetlands

Since 2004, we have been assisting Melbourne Water to monitor the quality of the water in Dandenong Creek, Dandenong Wetlands and Tirhatuan Wetlands.

On the first Sunday of each month at 9:30am, we meet up at the southeast corner of the carpark at the Dandenong Stadium at 270 Stud Road (just south of the Monash Freeway). Come with us to see what bugs we can find in the creek and wetlands.

WaterWatch in progress at the Bird Hide in the Dandenong Wetlands

On the fourth Sunday of each month at 9:30am, we meet up at the entry to the Tirhatuan Wetlands at 24 Illawarra Avenue, Rowville. See how many birds you can spot and see what bugs we can find in the wetlands.

Frog Census

During the spring and autumn frog calling seasons, we organise night walks to find frogs and report them to Melbourne Water. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the next event.

Monthly Meetings

Come along to our meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30pm. See our Facebook page for the location of the next meeting.

Advocate for Dandenong’s animals and plants

We have recently been campaigning (successfully!) against the building of a cemetery in the Dandenong Creek floodplain.
